Calmer Of Storms
One of the names I call Jesus is “The Calmer of Storms”. I love that about Him. He can calm any storm.
(Mark 4:35-41)That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
Christ was asleep in the stern. I tend to doubt He was entirely clueless about what was going on. I’m sure He wasn’t fast asleep in that furious squall! He just refused to panic. Unlike the disciples, He knew who He was, He was the Son of the Most High God! Nothing could move Him when God was on His side.
Many times we tend to be like the disciples. We go through things we can’t control but we forget who we are and who we have been called to be. We only need to speak.
(Matthew 18:18-19) Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
That’s the power of Christ in us!!
But more often than not we ask like the disciples “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
Jesus said to them… ”Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Let us have faith in Jesus. Let us trust in this Holy One of God. Even the wind and the waves of YOUR life will obey Him!!
